Star-Kist is the major employer in American Samoa employing 75% of the Samoan workforce. Paul Pelosi, Nancy 's husband, owns $17 million dollars of Star-Kist stock. In January, 2007 when the minimum wage was increased from $5.15 to $7.25, Pelosi had American Samoa exempted from the increase so Del Monte would not have to pay the higher wage. This would make Del Monte products less expensive than their competitions. Last week when the huge bailout bill was passed, Pelosi added an earmark to the final bill adding $33 million dollars for an "economic development credit in American Samoa ". Pelosi has called the Bush Administration "corrupt". She should know! Barney Frank and the Appropriations Committee put pressure on the banks to okay loans to people who couldn't afford to pay them back. ACORN extorted the banking industry that they would claim racial discrimination lawsuits if they didn't make the loans available. Frank's ex lover was the head of Freddie Mac....now he's running a pottery store. We are footing the bill for these two morons and no is saying anything about it. I can tell you one thing....the NRA has laid out proof of the plans to put two more liberal judges on the Supreme Court once this country elects Obama and your Constitutional rights to bear arms will be repealed. And then ask yourself what happened in Germany in 1938 when Hitler prepped the region to take it over.....he took the right to bear arms or own guns away so there was no one to stop him.
